Tour details

A one-day route across three distinctly different locations on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul — each with its own character.

Shatyly Panaroma (2,680 m) offers a sweeping panorama of the lake and the Tian Shan peaks. The climb covers 2–3 km with around 100–200 m of elevation gain — worth every step.

Aksai Canyon is a natural maze of red and ochre rock formations stretching across more than 15 sq km along the southern shore. Known locally as the Valley of Forgotten Rivers, the landscape was carved by ancient riverbeds that dried out over millennia, leaving behind a terrain that looks more like Mars than Central Asia. The canyon trail is about 1.5 km with minimal elevation gain.

The south shore of Issyk-Kul remains one of the least developed stretches of the lake — a quiet spot for a swim and a rest away from the crowds.

On the way back, a stop in Kattama for freshly baked layered flatbread and tea with milk is a local ritual worth experiencing.
